The service and app are overall good, I’ve been a happy user for several years.
What has become increasingly intolerable is the promotional push notifications and their frequency—HappyFresh, please get with the program that has been industry best practice for a long time: distinguish transactional from promotional notification types and allow users to configure them differently.
We need notifications for deliveries, chat with shoppers for item replacements, etc. These are transactional essentials, so because of these disabling the app’s notification permissions entirely is out of the question.
But I’m not interested in promotional notifications, it shouldn’t be necessary to explain this preference. Further, my iOS stats indicate HappyFresh among the highest counts of notifications, for an app that I use (and want to use) once every two weeks.
This frequency of promotions is too high even for those consumers who are price-sensitive enough to want notifications, I think.
Please stop making notifications all-or-nothing, and consider more effective/less alienating marketing strategies for protecting your churn rate.
